Television, 'Adventure'
Good album. I didn't know them, but I'm glad I got to know them. been listening to the Jesus and Mary Chain. While listening to them I wondered: why didn't I hear this earlier? Got 'Zuma' (by the great Mr. Neil Young) from the library as well. Another excellent album. Er, what else did I bring from the library? Ah yes, 'Station to Station' - I have it on vinyl, but I want it on cd as well (long live cd copiers |

1975
I have 'Harvest', 'Harvest Moon' and 'Unplugged' on cd. On tape: 'Sleeps with Angels', 'After the Gold Rush', and the nameless solo debut. And from the early years: 'So Far' (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) and 'Retrospective: The Best of Buffalo Springfield' (both on tape). |

I was listening to - and watching - Neil Young last night on the Live Aid DVD, and was reminded how brilliant (and charismatic) he is - though one of the two songs on the DVD, which he did that day, was rather square: Nothing Is Perfect (In God's Perfect Plan) - the music is great, but the lyrics leave something to be desired. My favourite Neil Young album is the first I ever heard, After The Goldrush, I remember when I heard it I had never heard anything like that before.

I'll get my list together for you to tick off.
Harvest and After the Goldrush managed to be combined into a double CD. I think he's absolutely fabulous. - everybody knows this is nowhere -

Personally I don't think Good old Neil is the best lyrics writer ever. He's at his best when he keeps it simple, and takes up the acoustic guitar. I love his rock songs too, but they tend to get too much when performed live (I forgot to mention that I have 'Year of the Horse' on tape - and I have seen him live about 8 or 9 years ago).
For the grunge generation (er, me, that is), he's an icon. And - like all icons - for all the wrong reasons. |

I wanna live
with a cinnamon girl I could be happy the rest of my life With a cinnamon girl. A dreamer of pictures I run in the night You see us together, chasing the moonlight, My cinnamon girl. Simple yet so nice alongside a simple. I think I was sixteen when I first heard that song and loved it ever since. Everybody know this nowhere la la la lala la Everybody knows - everybody knows this is nowhere -

Johann Sebastian Bach played on accordeon by Michael Olefir - my former lodger. He gave me a cd with the dedication:
"To Stine - who knows that playing Bach on accordeon is like cracking nuts with your a s s h o l e!!!! |

Phew, this topic was far far away, but look! I found it!
Listening to NoFX, 'I Heard They Suck Live' (on the same tape as Bad Religion's "All Ages" - I really should get those albums on vinyl or on CD, so what if it's awful: it's fun). |

Quote: Do I want to hear this music? Ever? db, 'After All' (an incredibly sweet song, in fact - it breaks up my idea of 'The Man who Sold the World' being a rougher album). |
